Dairy Judging Team Shines at National Contests
Oct. 8, 2010--With a fresh crop of new members this fall, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Dairy Judging Team jumped right into the dairy judging scene.
The team has already brought fierce competition to two national contests this fall: the Accelerated Genetics Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest in Viroqua and the Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest at World Dairy Expo in Madison.
At the Accelerated Genetics contest, Julia Cooper, a junior agricultural business and marketing communications major from De Forest, took fourth place in the individual competition. Paul Lippert, a senior dairy science major of Pittsville, took seventh place in the individual competition. The UWRF team won third place in reasons at the contest.
At the World Dairy Expo contest, the team took eighth place overall and ninth in reasons.
Members of the team include Cooper, Lippert, Justine Ahrens, a senior dairy science major from Mosinee, Jillian Cowles, a senior dairy science major from Roberts, and Michelle Owens, a junior dairy science major from Frederic.
