UW-River Falls Student Selected as Wisconsin State FFA President
June 29, 2010--University of Wisconsin-River Falls agriculture education major Alicia Hodnik of Walworth was selected as the Wisconsin State FFA president on June 17 at the 81st Annual Wisconsin FFA Convention in Madison. Some 3,136 students and professionals attended the convention at the Alliant Energy Center Exhibition Hall June 14-17.
Five of the ten Wisconsin State FFA officers selected June 16 for the 2010-11 term are UWRF students including: Amy Kringle of Barron (major in food science and technology) will serve as secretary; Samantha Becker of Eleva (double major in agriculture education and agriculture business) will serve as vice president; Anna Peissig of Abbotsford (major pre-professional, pre-elementary education) will serve as reporter; Sam Tauchen of Cecil (double major in agriculture education and chemistry) will serve as treasurer; and, Whitney Barnes of Kiel (double major in agriculture education and marketing communications) will serve as parliamentarian.
UWRF agriculture education major Kirsten Konder of Glenwood City was selected as a national FFA officer candidate. Konder served as the Wisconsin State FFA treasurer for 2009-10. Each state may send one national officer candidate to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis Oct. 20-23.
