Renewable Energy Conference Open to Public
March 19, 2010--A conference focusing on “Farming Renewable Energy” is set for April 6 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. A public open forum discussion will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Kinnickinnic River Theater of the University Center.
Forum topics include renewable energy sources with a focus on ethanol, biomass and wind. Jeff Broin, UWRF alumnus and CEO of Poet Energy, the country’s largest ethanol producer, will speak about ethanol as fuel. Larry Swalheim, CEO of Landmark Cooperative, will talk on the use of biomass as an energy source while Dave Laursen, CEO of Windations, will highlight innovations of wind energy.
The three speakers will also take time throughout the day to visit classes in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences.
The Agricultural Business and Marketing Society, a UWRF student organization, sponsors a spring conference biannually. The event is co-sponsored by the Agricultural Mechanization Club and the agricultural economics and engineering departments.
