UW-River Falls Dairy Club Announces Falcon Premier Sale
Feb. 17, 2010 -- The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Dairy Club’s biannual dairy consignment sale is set for noon on Saturday, March 6, at the Mann Valley Lab Farm in River Falls. Over 50 lots of registered Holstein heifers from some of the best herds in the U.S. are included in the sale. A complimentary brat lunch will be served at 11 a.m. and a “worker auction” is also scheduled that day at 11:45 a.m.
The planning of the Falcon Premier Sale is done entirely by students, giving them the opportunity to learn about organizing a consignment sale. Auctioneer Tom Morris, Ltd., assists the club. In 2008, the club averaged $3,793 on more than 40 live lots. The funds raised help to fund club activities, conferences, scholarships and member awards.
“Putting on the Falcon Premier Sale is a total club effort and we couldn’t do it without the generous support of this industry,” UWRF student and sale chair Londa Johnson commented.
The Mann Valley Lab Farm is located 2.5 miles northwest of River Falls off County Road MM. View a map at http://www.uwrf.edu/map/lab-farm-location-map.pdf.
