Holiday Music Set on Campus

DEC. 1, 2009 | The University of Wisconsin-River Falls music department offers a variety of entertainment for the holiday season throughout December.

Concerts, which may be subject to change, are held in the Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts building on campus unless otherwise noted. Concerts are free unless otherwise noted, and the public is invited to attend. •Sunday, Dec. 6, 3 p.m. Holiday Choral Concert, Performance of Concert Choir, Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus and Chamber Singers. Admission: Adults $5, Seniors $3, Students $2

•Sunday, Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m. Guitar and Woodwind Ensemble Chamber Music Concert •Monday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Holiday Choral Concert, Performance of Concert Choir, Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus and Chamber Singers Concert Admission: Adults $5, Seniors $3, Students $2

•Tuesday, Dec. 8, 7:30 p.m. Holiday Extravaganza with the St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra presenting sounds of the season with poetry, narration and visuals. Musical selections include “Sleigh Ride,” “O Holy Night,” “Holiday Hoedown” and more Admission: adults $5, seniors $3, students $2.

•Thursday, Dec. 10, 3 p.m. Music Department Convocation

•Thursday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. The Symphony Band and University Band will present a variety of selections including Chuck Waznowski on tuba as the featured soloist in “Czardas” by Victor Monti, “Jingle Bells” arranged by Ito, and “Piedmont Celebration” by Aldo Rafael Forte. Director and music Professor Kristin Tjornehoj will lead the Symphony Band in a premier of “Kristinmark” by Gregory Fritz. The University Band, led by music Professor Gary Bird, will perform “Exaltation” by James Swearingen, “Overture for Winds” by Charles Carter, “Lyric Dance” by Frank Bencriscutto, and Reed’s “A Christmas Festival.” Admission: adults $5, seniors $3 and students $2.

•Sunday, Dec. 13, 3 p.m. Piano Studio Recital featuring piano students of music Professor Roger McVey.

•Sunday, Dec. 13, 4 p.m. Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Afton, Minn. •Saturday, Dec. 19, 9 a.m. Luther Memorial Children’s Concert

•Sunday, Dec. 20, 9 a.m., Luther Memorial Children’s Concert
