UWRF Symphony Band/University Bands Performs

Oct. 9, 2009 | The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Symphony Band and University Bands will perform a fall concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18 in the Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts building on campus.

The Symphony Band will perform “A Piedmont Celebration” by Aldo Rafael Forte, Dwayne Milburn’s “American Hymnsong Suite,” “The Carnival of Venice” by J.B. Arban featuring UWRF faculty member Richard Gaynor, trombone. Music Professor Kristin Tjornehoj conducts the 55-member UWRF Symphony Band, which performs all types of wind literature, including several premieres of new music.

UWRF alumnus Gary Bird leads the University Band comprised of students and community members. This ensemble will play selections from “The Lion King” by Elton John and arranged by John Higgins, “His Honor March” by Henry Fillmore, and Caesar Giovannini’s “Overture in B Flat.” Horn player and UWRF faculty member Andy Parks will be featured soloist for “Over the Rainbow.”
