Minneapolis Artist Featured in UWRF Gallery 101

OCT. 5, 2009 | The work of Minneapolis artist Rob McBroom will be featured in an exhibit titled "Your Ad Here" in Gallery 101 in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Oct. 6 – Nov. 4. An opening reception is set for Oct. 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the gallery and KFA lobby.

The event and exhibit are free and open to the public. McBroom’s work interprets imagery from various modes of popular culture and corporate logos in order to explore relationships between viewers and the ad-infused the environments that inform their identities. McBroom’s paintings and mixed-media works have been exhibited at national and international venues. McBroom’s work has received recognition through a number of awards, including the Jerome Foundation Art in Space Grant, and the Rhode Island School of Design’s Annual Art Award. A formerd director of OX-OP Gallery, in Minneapolis, McBroom continues to guest curate and lecture throughout the Midwest. McBroom currently lives in Minneapolis.

Gallery 101 hours are Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. for more information contact the UWRF art department at 715-425-3266.
