Xcel Energy Donation Helps Program for Teachers
JULY 13, 2009 | The Wisconsin Teacher Education Leadership Program (WiTEACH) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls recently received a $2,000 grant from the Xcel Energy Foundation that will assist in creating scholarships for teacher education students from diverse populations or those preparing to be science or math teachers. Genella Stubrud, an assistant professor of teacher education at UWRF, is director of the new program intended to meet local and national needs for the recruitment and retention of teachers in science, engineering, technology and mathematics fields.
Currently in its first year, the program is in the application phase for the first cohort of students to start in the fall.
