Journalism Seminar Rescheduled

MARCH 13, 2009 | The journalism department at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls will host a free, public seminar featuring a professional journalist on Tuesday, March 24 in the University Center's Riverview Ballroom at 7 p.m.

The seminar “Eat While Dinner is Served,” will be presented by Duchesne Drew, of the Star Tribune. Drew will discuss what skills students should learn while in college, such as multimedia content creation, in order to prepare for the challenges facing journalism. Drew is the managing editor of operations for the Minneapolis-based newspaper.

Prior to his current position, Drew was business editor, St. Paul bureau editor, an assistant editor of metro team and an education editorat the Star Tribune and an assistant managing editor for a local news station.

Drew has a bachelor's degree in history from Columbia University and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. As the president of the Minnesota chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists, Drew works with teens who are interested in journalism careers. Drew also is a member of the National Association of Multicultural Media Executives and was named a McCormick Media Fellow 2009.

Drew lives in St. Paul with his wife, Angela Davis Drew, a journalist with WCCO news, and two children.
