The meal includes: catfish, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, greens, black eyed peas, cornbread, and peach cobbler or sweet potato pie for dessert.   Last year more than 150 people attended, and the dinner has been a tradition for the last seven years.   The food is cooked in an old-fashioned Southern way in the African tradition known as “Soul Food.”

Take-out is from 4 to 5:15 p.m. and sit-down is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. For students the price is $4 with ID, non-students pay $6, and take-out is $7. The dinner is being at held at the Journey House located at 2nd Street and Cascade in River Falls. The meal can be paid for at the door.

After the dinner attendees are invited to attend the Twin Cities Community Gospel Choir. The Wyman Series concert is at 8 p.m. in the North Hall Auditorium on campus.   Ticket prices are $5 for the general public, $3 for seniors/juniors (18 and under) and free for UWRF students and children 6 and under.

The choir gathers singers of various musical experience, ethnic backgrounds, and ages to celebrate music and spirituality through the rich traditions of African American religious music.   The Student Entertainment and Arts Committee (SEAC) and the Diversity Awareness Committee (DAC) are hosting the event.
