Journalism Seminar Set

FEB. 16, 2009—The journalism department at the University of Wisconsin River Falls will host a free, open to the public seminar featuring a professional journalist on Thursday, Feb. 26 in the University Center Ballroom at 7 p.m.

The seminar “Eat While Dinner is Served,” will be presented by Duchesne Drew, of the Star Tribune. Drew will discuss the things that students should learn while they are still in college, in order to prepare for a journalism career.

Drew is the managing editor of operations for the Minneapolis-based newspaper.   Prior to his current position, Drew was an assistant managing editor for a local news station, and at the Star Tribune as the business editor, St. Paul bureau editor, an assistant editor of metro team and an education editor.

Drew has a bachelor's degree in history from Columbia University and a Master's in journalism from Northwestern University.

As the president of the Minnesota chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists, Drew works with teens who are interested in journalism careers. Drew is also a member of the National Association of Multicultural Media Executives and was named McCormick Media Fellow 2009.

Drew lives in St. Paul with his wife, Angela Davis Drew, a journalist with WCCO news, and two children.
