WPR Presents Full Election Night Coverage on WRFW, WHWC

NOV. 3, 2008--After months of candidate politicking, it all comes down to Election Day Nov. 4.   Wisconsin Public Radio's Ideas Network presents eight hours of live coverage with results and analysis from National Public Radio (NPR) and WPR news beginning 6 p.m. election night. In western Wisconsin, the coverage is on FM 88.3 WHWC in Menomonie/Eau Claire and 88.7 WRFW at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Robert Siegel, Michel Norris, Scott Simon and Debbie Elliott will anchor the coverage as NPR follows the presidential race as well as the races around the country that will determine the balance of power in Congress. The coverage will also include analysis from Ron Elving, NPR's Washington editor and Mara Liasson, NPR's national political correspondent, and several others.

"This will be NPR's most ambitious election night coverage to date," says Tom Bullock, NPR News Election Unit. "We'll have reporters, producers and engineers in more than two dozen sites around the country including key battleground states and major candidate sites."

Beginning at 8 p.m., Wisconsin Public Radio will insert news and analysis highlighting races in the state, including the races for Wisconsin's Congressional seats and control of the Wisconsin Legislature. Wisconsin Public Radio coverage will be anchored by Ben Merens, host of the Ideas Network call-in show "At Issue."   Shawn Johnson, Wisconsin Public Radio's state capitol reporter, will co-anchor while the network's cadre of reporters throughout the state will provide analysis.

Mary Jo Wagner, host of the regional issues call-in show, "The West Side," also will provide updates on western Wisconsin legislative races, with analysis by political scientist Mort Sipress.

Coverage is scheduled to continue until 2 a.m., and will continue past that time if key races are still uncalled.
