Community Invited to Meet Chancellor Candidates

NOV. 3, 2008--Community members from the St. Croix Valley will have the opportunity to meet with five finalists for the position of chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

The finalists are expected to be named on Nov. 18 by UW System President Kevin Reilly. They will be selected following reference checks and interviews with 11 semi-finalists.

Search and screen committee chair and UWRF physics Professor Jim Madsen said the search is progressing on schedule, with a Chancellor-elect to be nominated by Reilly and a UW System Board of Regents search committee by Dec. 23. The full Board is expected to act on the recommendation at a special meeting in January.

The finalists will be brought to River Falls to meet with UWRF students, faculty, academic and classified staff, and community members. This will be an opportunity both to assess the candidates and to showcase UWRF and the surrounding region.

Community sessions are scheduled in the River Falls Library from 10:45 to noon on Friday, Nov. 21, and Tuesday, Nov. 25. They continue from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, and Friday, Dec. 5. The final candidate session on Saturday, Dec. 6, is set for 10:45 to noon.

Madsen said the committee members are looking forward to the next steps and are confident that they have identified candidates who can successfully lead UWRF.
