New Lecture Series Honors the Memory of Ann Lydecker
OCT. 27, 2008--This fall marks the beginning of a new lecture series at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls called the "Ann Lydecker Lecture Series on Women in Leadership," created in the memory of the late UWRF Chancellor Ann Lydecker.
The annual series will feature a speaker each year on the issues facing women leaders in many contexts, both in academia and beyond.
The event set for Nov. 7 from 3 to 4 p.m. in North Hall Auditorium features Adrian Tinsley, Lydecker's good friend, mentor and the first woman president at Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts.
While at BSC, Professor Tinsley increased enrollment, secured new and greater funding from many sources, and improved the college's ranking through her management and leadership skills. Tinsley and Lydecker worked together at BSC and remained in close contact when Lydecker came to UWRF as its first woman chancellor.
Lydecker was a beloved leader at UWRF whose leadership skills and personal connections to the community and campus are fondly remembered by many staff, students and community members.
The series is made possible by Bill Lydecker, Ann's husband, through the Ann Lydecker Lecture Series Fund and is sponsored by the UWRF Women's Studies Program.
Persons interested in making a financial contribution to support the lecture series can contact the UW-River Falls Foundation office at 715-425-3505.
