Family Day Brings Folks to Campus
OCT. 7, 2008-- The University of Wisconsin-River Falls First Year Experience Program is hosting its annul Family Day on Saturday, Oct. 11 for families of enrolled students of all ages.
Family Day provides students and their families with an opportunity to reconnect while spending time on campus. Families especially enjoy meeting the faculty/staff and seeing firsthand what life is like at UWRF, say organizers.
Registration for the weekend ends on Oct. 8, and registration fees include all meals, events, and a Family Day T-shirt. The day is free for UWRF students, $12 for adults and children 6 and up, and free for children under the age of six; all ages are welcome.
Saturday's events begin at 7:30 a.m. with Saturday morning cartoon showings. The other events include: a hunt for Freddy Falcon pictures around campus, campus tours, interactive greenhouse tour, art demonstrations, career services workshop called "What color is your personality?" family pictures with Freddy the Falcon, a silent auction, various showings of the movie "Wall-E," men's football game, and open ice-skating.
The event includes Step Afrika, a performance of traditional African dance, and ComedySportz, which is an improvisational comedy show played as a sport.
A complete list of Family Day events and registration information is available online at: http://www.uwrf.edu/fye/familyday. Participants are advised to register early to be guaranteed accommodations.
