UWRF Sets Listening Sessions for New Chancellor SearchAUGUST 12 , 2008--Listening sessions have been set for faculty, staff, students and community members as UWRF conducts a nationwide search for its next chancellor. The schedule is as follows: •Tuesday, Aug. 26, Emeriti/Faculty, 2-4 p.m., Wyman, Room 118. UWRF plays an important part role locally, regionally, and nationally, and increasingly internationally. The next chancellor will have many opportunities to impact the region and will face some challenges. This will be a chance for community members to identify areas they believe to be critical for continued success, and to identify the qualities desired needed in UWRF’s next chancellor. The chancellor is the highest adminstrative position on the UWRF campus, and reports directly to the president of the University of Wisconsin System. The role of the chancellor is increasingly focused on activities beyond the day-to-day operations of the campus. For example, as the funding from the state declines as a percentage of the total operating budget, the chancellor must develop relationships with other sources to ensure UWRF has the resources to carry out its mission and vision. The Chancellor is responsible for the allocation of resources on campus, and ultimately sets budget priorities. This is done in conjunction with faculty and students in areas that are covered by the shared governance statutes in Wisconsin law. A strength of the campus is that the Higher Learning Commission, which accredits universities, recently completed a review of UWRF. They were impressed by the commitment of the faculty and staff, the passion of the students, and the strategic planning that is under way. The result was a highly positive review, with full accreditation for the next 10 years. UWRF community members who cannot attend this meeting can submit comments to the search and screen committee at chancellorsearch@uwrf.edu.
