Web Conference on Dairy Steer Risk Management Set
JULY 25, 2008--A web conference on dairy steer risk management practices for dairy beef producers, agriculture professionals and educators will be held in six locations throughout the state at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 and 20.
On Aug. 6, Dee Griffin, University of Nebraska Extension Feedlot Veterinarian, will present, "Tips for successfully starting Holstein steers on feed," followed by John Lawrence, director of the Iowa Beef Center at Iowa State University, who will present "Calculating cost of production for Holstein steers and Holstein feeder cattle."
On Aug. 20, a presentation on "Advanced nutrition" will be presented by Jeff Lehmkuhler from the University of Kentucky followed by "Price Risk Management Strategies for Holstein steer and Holstein feeder cattle production," by Brenda Boetel, livestock marketing specialist for the University of Wisconsin Extension.
