UWRF's Sustainability Leadership Spans the Globe

JUNE 13, 2008--UWRF has been an active leader among higher education institutions nationally and internationally in bringing sustainable practices to the campus and its service area.

These include:

ˇInstitutional membership in the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. AASHE promotes all components of sustainability in partnership with business and government. http://www.aashe.org/index.php

ˇDesignation as one of 90 Benchmarking Pilot Schools through the AASHE Sustainability Tracking, Auditing, & Rating System (STARS) project to document all energy conservation, as well as environmental, social and economic stability indicators. http://www.aashe.org/stars/

ˇCharter & Leadership Circle Signatory of the American Colleges & Universities President's Climate Commitment. The international collaboration of higher education institutions is dedicated to countering global warming by reducing their carbon footprint and incorporating sustainability into their curriculum. http://www.presidentsclimatecommitment.org

ˇChina Exploration & Research Society. In partnership with alumnus and CER President Wong How Man, UWRF faculty, staff and students are assisting in community and cultural sustainability on the Southern Tibetan Plateau.

ˇSustainability projects are underway with the National Agrarian University in Managua, Nicaragua, and the University of Guadalajara in Mexico.
