Discover U Kid's College Openings AvailableJUNE 2, 2008--A week-long summer enrichment day camp for students entering grades 4 through 9 is available through the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. In July, UWRF will welcome more than 100 youth from the area. While Discover U is in its second year, the UWRF has offered similar summer opportunities for kids over the past 25 years, including "College for Kids" and "Teen University." A step beyond the traditional classroom, Discover U offering including hands-on learning and the chance to experience the University in a safe, welcoming environment. Classes are taught by university faculty and other special instructors, all hand-picked for their blend of enthusiasm, subject-area expertise, and K-12 teaching abilities. This summer classes open for those entering grades 4-6 include Medieval Drama and Welcome to the ER from July 7-11 and River Stewards, Grossology: The Study of Gross Things, and "The Wizard of Oz" drama class from July 14-18. For grades 7-9, classes July 7-11 include Mystery Writing, Online Design (a two-week course running through July 18), and River Stewards. July 14-18 offerings include Adventure Rock Climbing, Digital Photography, Rocketry and Creative Drawing. Classes run from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Each week of class costs $125 per student and covers all materials and supplies.
