Spring Music Round-Up

APRIL 14, 2008--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls music department is presenting a host of concerts in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building this spring. Unless otherwise noted, all concerts are free, open to the public and performed in the Abbott Concert Hall located in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building.             •April 17, 7:30 p.m.--The RADD Jazz Series Presents cutting edge, contemporary jazz compositions featuring the UWRF Jazz Ensemble, directed by music faculty member David Milne with guest artist and Jazz Trumpeter Kelly Rossum. Admission: adults $5, seniors $3, and students with ID $2.

            •April 19, 3 p.m.--Felice Piantek Senior Recital (tentative).

            •April 20, 7:30 p.m.--Scott Perau, Senior Recital (tentative).

• April 21, 7:30 p.m.--Orchestra Concert: Concerti Celebration! 7:30 p.m., Abbott Concert Hall, Kleinpell Fine Arts Building, UWRF. Featuring Tony Capparelli, piano, Angela Lamb, violin, Tom Barnett, trumpet, and Manny Laureano, trumpet. Cost: Adults $5, seniors $3 and students with I.D. $2 at the door.

            •April 22, 7:30 p.m., New Music Concert directed by music faculty member Patti Cudd.

            •April 24, 7:30 p.m.--Percussion Ensemble directed by music faculty member Patti Cudd.

            •April 24, 3 p.m.-- Layton "Skip" James, keyboard player from the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, will be speaking at a free seminar. Location in Kleinpell Fine Arts TBA.

            •April 25, 7:30 p.m.--Chamber Singers Concert directed by Jong-Won Park, UWRF music professor.

            •April 27, 3 p.m.--Spring choral concert featuring UWRF Concert Choir and Chamber Singers directed by music faculty members Jong-Won Park, Women's Chorus directed by Sarah Parks, Men's Chorus directed by Zebulon Highben. Admission: adults $5, seniors $3, and students with ID $2.

            •April 27, 7:30 p.m.--Brian Nehring, senior recital (tentative)

            •April 28, 7:30 p.m.--Symphony Band Concert, "Global perspectives," directed by UWRF music professor Kristin Tjornehoj.

            •April 29, 7:30 p.m.--Changmean Kim, senior recital (tentative).

            •April 30, 7:30 p.m.-- Brass Choir Concert directed by Rick Gaynor.

            •May 1, 3 p.m.--Convocation.

            •May 1, 7:30 p.m. The RADD Jazz Series Presents Faculty Jazz Group directed by David Milne. Admission: Adults $5, Seniors $3, and Students with ID $2.  

            •May 4, 3 p.m.--Woodwind Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble Concert, Clairnet Ensemble, Flute Choir, Saxophone Ensemble, and Guitar Ensembles directed by music faculty Pat O'Keefe, Polly Meyerding, David Milne and Joe Hagedorn.

            •May 4, 7:30 p.m.--Chris Wiberg, senior recital (tentative).

            •May 5, 6:30 p.m.--Future Superstars Concert, St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra and Hudson Strings. Hudson Prairie Elementary School, 1400 Carmichael Rd, Hudson.  

•May 5, 11:15 a.m., Sarah Bersch, Life Enhancement Coach, "Finding Your Passion and Pursuing Your LIfe," Band Room, Kleinpell Fine Arts, sponsored by the National Band Association Chapter.

            •May 5, 7:30 p.m.--Pep Band Concert, directed by music faculty Craig Hara.

            •May 6, 7:30 p.m.--Improvisation class concert directed by music faculty Patrick O'Keefe.

            •May 8, 3 p.m.--Convocation.

            •May 11, 3 p.m.--Piano Ensemble Concert, music professors Carolyn Britton and Roger McVey.

            •May 11, 7:30 p.m.--Yoona Hwang guest piano recital.

            •May 18, 3 p.m.--Katherine Eberle guest soprano recital.
