SCV Symphony Orchestra to Perform
APRIL 14, 2008--Numerous guests will be featured with the St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra in concert on Monday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. the in William Abbott Concert Hall, Kleinpell Fine Arts Building on the UW-River Falls campus, River Falls, Wisconsin.
Manny Laureano is the first trumpet player with the Minnesota Orchestra. He will join UWRF faculty member Tom Barnett in a performance of Vivaldi's Double Trumpet Concerto. Also on the program is Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, D Minor, movements 2 and 3 featuring River Falls High School student Tony Capparelli.
"Tony is an outstanding musician," says Kristin Tjornehoj of the UWRF music department and orchestra conductor. "He has won numerous competitions with his interpretation on this piano concerto and we are honored to host him on the stage of Abbott Concert Hall."
Angela Lamb is a member of the Minnesota Youth Symphony. Ms. Lamb will perform the Barber Violin Concerto, mvt. 1 with the SCVSO. "Angela is a sensitive performer that plays with her entire body and soul," says Tjornehoj. "She is polished in her rendition of Barbers music. The passion Angela displays is invigorating."
Also on the program is Dvorak's Slavonic Dance Op. 46, No. 8, Hungarian Dance by Brahms, and Russian Sailors' Dance by Gliere. UWRF Tom Barnett will play trumpet.
