Upcoming Concerts at UWRF

NOV. 2, 2007--Several concerts at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls are scheduled in November.

Music faculty member Laura Edman will be perform with the St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra on Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Abbott Concert Hall, of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building.

Selections for this performance include: Suite for Orchestra from "Sigurd Jorsalfar" by Edvard Grieg; March and Scherzo from the Opera "The Love of Three Oranges" by Serge Prokofieff; An Outdoor Overture by Aaron Copeland; and Symphonie Nr. 2 Larghetto and Scherzo by Ludwig van Beethoven. Admission is $5 for adults, students and seniors; free for children under age 6.

The Prague Castle Woodwind Trio will be in concert Monday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Repertoire includes works by: Leopold Mozart, Dvorak, Julius Fucik and Evzen Zamecnik.

The Prague Castle Guard and Czech Police Band were established in 1992. This is the country's professional ensemble that focuses on celebrating Czech classical music. The ensemble is on tour in the United States celebrating Czech Heritage with radio programs, concerts, conventions and master classes. A $5 donation is suggested.

Other upcoming concerts include:

         UW-River Falls Brass Ensemble presents a free concert in the William Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building on Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

         A Thursday Convocation free concert is set for Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. in the William Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building.

         A River Falls Brass Concert is Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the William Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Thursday Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for students with I.D.

         A senior recital for Jenna Portner, a senior music education major from Winthrop, Minn., is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the William Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Free admission.

         A guest recital featuring musician Eunjung Choi and music faculty member Roger McVey is Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the William Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Free admission.

         On Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. the RADD Jazz Series presents "Jazz Meets The Classics" featuring the UWRF Jazz Ensemble, directed by David Milne, in the William Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Guest artist for the performance is UWRF music faculty member Pat O'Keefe on clarinet. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for students with I.D.

         The Faculty Chamber Music Recital is Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. in the William Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Free admission.

         An Opera Techniques performance is set for Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the William Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Free admission.

         A senior recital for Rachel Radkey, a music education major from Beldenville, Minn., is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the William Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Free admission.
