Family Day Brings Folks to Campus
By Lakiesha Townsell
OCT. 22, 2007-- The University of Wisconsin-River Falls First-Year Experience Program is hosting its annual Family Day on Saturday, Nov. 3 with activities for all ages for families of enrolled students.
Family Day provides students and their families with an excellent opportunity to reconnect while spending time on campus. Families especially enjoy meeting the faculty/staff and seeing firsthand what life is like at UWRF, say organizers.
Last year, the event reached a record number of attendees and organizers expects more than 1,000 participants this year. "It's a fun event, and one not to be missed," says Sarah Egerstrom, who is director of the First-Year Experience Program.
Attendees include siblings, grandparents, parents and other family members.
Events include hockey and football games, a movie, performers, ice skating, children's games, speakers, tours and other activities. UWRF students and children under 5 are free, and the registration fee for adults and other participants ages 6 and older is $10 each.
"It's a great value when you consider that participants receive two meals, admission to athletic events, tickets to a movie, evening entertainment, admission to Kids Fest, family photos with Freddy the Falcon and more." says Egerstrom.
A complete list of Family Day events and registration information is available online at: www.uwrf.edu/fye/familyday. Participants are advised to register early to be guaranteed accommodations.
