Dairy Judging Team Places 3rd At Viroqua Contest
SEPT. 28, 2007--The University of Wisconsin - River Falls Dairy judging team received 3rd place at the Accelerated Genetics Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest in Viroqua. Iowa State University and the University of Minnesota was awarded first and second place respectively.
Team members were Richard Franta, Spring Valley, Wis.; Cortney Keiffer, Utica, Minn.; Jessica Lundgren, Cushing, Wis.; and Laura Lyford, Davis, Ill. The team also received second place overall and placed 4th in the Ayrshire breed, fifth in the Holstein breed and fifth in the Jersey breed.
Individually, Lundgren led the team placing 4th overall, 4th in oral reasons and 2nd in the Jersey breed. Lyford tied for 10th place overall, 1st in Jerseys and tied for 4th place in oral reasons. Kieffer tied for 11th place in reasons and was 2nd in Ayrshires and 2nd in Holsteins. Franta placed 4th individually in the Ayrshire breed.
The team was coached by Andi Cooper, DeForest, Wis.
