Conference for Critical and Creative Engagement

SEPT. 21, 2007--On Saturday, Sept 29, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls' English Department is presenting its first conference for undergraduate students.

Titled "Nature, Artifice and the Self," the conference provides a presentation venue for student work related to nature from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the St. Croix River Room of the University Center at UWRF.

Journalist and author Masha Hamilton will be the featured speaker at the conference. A Brown University graduate, she has been awarded fiction fellowships from Yaddo, Blue Mountain Center, Squaw Valley Community of Writers and the Arizona Commission on the Arts and has worked as a journalist all over the world. She is the author of "The Camel Bookmobilie."

Undergraduates will present their work, evaluate their writing skills and explore the relationship between their writing and the natural world.
