Princeton Review Names UWRF Among Best Colleges
AUG. 20, 2007--The Princeton Review on Aug. 20 has named UW-River Falls to the list of “Best Midwestern Colleges.”
The accolade is the second in less than a week for the University. On Aug. 17 U.S. News & World Report named the campus to its exclusive list of top public master’s degree-granting universities in the Midwest.
A total of 644 public and private colleges and universities were named to Princeton’s “2008 Best Colleges” list, with 161 evaluated in the Midwest.
The Princeton Review relies on data provided by universities and colleges as well as extensive anonymous surveys of students to gauge the quality of experience an incoming first-year student can expect.
Criteria assessed include admissions selectivity, class rankings of incoming students, financial aid and campus fire safety.
Students are asked to evaluate their experiences, including quality of life, which measures their opinions on everything from food to friendliness of students, administrators and the local community. Students also rank their academic experience, including hours spent studying outside the classroom, and evaluate the quality and accessibility of their professors, class sizes and classroom discussions.
To achieve this ranking, UWRF was compared to institutions in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Other UW System campuses also selected among the best Midwestern campuses were UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire, and UW-Stout.
