After dinner, guests and officers were introduced. Dairy Club advisors Steve Kelm, Dennis Cooper, Gregg Hadley and Sylvia Kehoe recognized the outstanding members, scholarship recipients, and gave the club's judging team recognition. The speaker for the evening was W. Terry Howard, Ph.D. Howard has an extensive background in dairy science including research, academia, and consulting. He was hired in 1966 as Extension Dairy Scientist by UW-Madison, and appointed professor in 1978. Having served in these capacities until his retirement in 1995, he now does independent nutritional consulting with the Ag Consulting Team from Plain, Wis., and is accredited by the Purebred Dairy Cattle Association to judge all dairy cattle breeds. Retiring Dairy Club President Jenna Wegner, a senior marketing communications/agriculture emphasis major from Ettrick, Wis., introduced the Friend of the Dairy Club recipient, Professor Larry Baumann. He received this honor for his continued support of the club in addition to his efforts with helping to finalize the dairy learning center plans.
A slide show highlighting the club's year was shown, and the meeting ended with installation of newly elected officers and closing remarks. Dairy Club officers for 2007-2008 include: President, Vicki Cooper, a junior majoring in marketing communications from DeForest, Wis.; 1st Vice President, Drew Johnson, a junior dairy science major from Cashton, Wis.; 2nd Vice President, Justin Harsdorf, a junior dairy science major from Beldenville, Wis.; Sale Business Chair, Tom Knegendorf, a junior dairy science major from Spring Valley, Wis.; Secretary, Krista Kasten, a sophomore marketing communications major from Richfield, Wis.; Treasurer, Courtney Kieffer, a freshman agricultural business major from Utica, Minn.; Historian, Krissy Mallek, a freshman dairy science major from Junction City, Wis.; Alumni Relations, Annaliese Doornink, a freshman agricultural business major from Baldwin, Wis.; Publicity, Kristin Klossner, a sophomore dairy science major from Mount Horeb, Wis.; Parliamentarian, Nikki Cisar, a junior dairy science major from Oconto, Wis.; Yearbook Editor, Amber Elliott, a sophomore agricultural business major from Marshall, Wis.; Yearbook Business Manager, Londa Johnson, a freshman dairy science major from La Crescent, Minn.; Usher, Sam Kuhaupt, a junior dairy science major from Slinger, Wis.; Sr. CAFES Advisory, Justin Harsdorf; Jr. CAFES Advisory, Richard Franta, a sophomore dairy science major from Spring Valley, Wis. The following outstanding members were recognized: Senior, Bill Root, an animal science major from New Richland, Minn.; Junior, Justin Harsdorf, an animal science major from Beldenville, Wis.; Sophomore, Kristin Klossner, a dairy science major from New Glarus, Wi., and Freshman, Cortney Kieffer, an agricultural business major from Utica, Minn.
The judging team members were also recognized. Outstanding Newcomer was Sophomore Franni Kinnard, a marketing communications/agriculture emphasis from Sturgeon Bay, Wis. , while the Most Improved was Senior Dan Lauderdale, a dairy science major from Elkhorn, Wis. Charlotte Muenzenberger, a dairy science major from Coon Valley, Wis., received the Outstanding Senior Award.
