Agricultural Economics Department Holds Reception
FEB. 9, 2007--The Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is holding a reception on Friday, Feb. 16 to celebrate to several awards and achievements within the department.
The reception is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Riverview Ballroom of the new University Center on campus.
Students, faculty, and the public are encouraged to attend the event, but are asked to RSVP to Gayle Dodge at (715) 425-3298 or firstname.lastname@example.org .
The department is celebrating six notable awards and distinctions including:
·Dr. Bill Boehm, a 1970 graduate and president of Manufacturing for Kroger company, who is named 2006 UWRF Distinguished Alumnus. Boehm will also speak on campus as part of the Distinguished Alumni Day Feb. 16 at 10:15 a.m. in the Kinnickinnic River Theatre of the University Center.
·Dr. Nate Splett, a 1975 and 1977 graduate of UWRF, who was named 2006 UWRF Distinguished Teacher of the Year.
·Dr. Lewi May, who received recognition as 2006 National Association of College Teachers of Agriculture Teacher Fellow.
·Greg Wheelock, a 1983 graduate, and Danette Wheelock, a 1984 graduate, who have recently established department and college scholarships.
·Jeff Betley, a 1990 graduate, who was named Wisconsin's Young Farmer of the Year.
Also on the agenda for recognition will be the creation of the Agricultural Business and Marketing Society, a new student club dedicated to uniting students, educators and professionals to develop social capital, leadership skills, and technical knowledge in order to advance and celebrate agriculture, according to the organization's charter.
