Reception To Showcase Creative and Scholarly Works of UWRF Staff

FEB. 5, 2007--A reception to honor the scholarly and creative output of University of Wisconsin-River Falls faculty and staff is Feb. 20, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Chalmer Davee Library.

"Each year the library collects and displays a wide variety of materials that showcase the research, scholarship and creative achievement of faculty and staff across the University," said Library Director Valerie Malzacher. "The library plays an important role in supporting the research activities of our faculty and staff, and it is an honor to celebrate their achievements with them through this annual event."

Since 2003, Celebrating Research, Scholarship and Creative Achievement (CRSCA) group on campus has encouraged submissions ranging from journal articles, books, playbills, newsletters, art pieces, and posters for the annual showcase.

The items are then displayed in the Harriet Barry Gallery and throughout the library so the campus and community can view the work.

"We applaud the work that goes on in their office and laboratories, in their work with other colleagues around the world, in their studios and theatres, and in their work with external funding agencies," said Malzacher.

A jazz trio composed of three UWRF students will perform during the reception: Colleen Kilian, flute; Jennifer Schowochert, clarinet; and Kyle Thomas, bassoon.

The reception is an opportunity to share creative and scholarly activities with a larger audience. "It's a reception in which faculty, staff and administrators can mingle and admire each other's professional accomplishments," says Cate Dodson, chair of the group organizing the event, which is free and open to the public.
