Community Classroom Explores Pluto's Downgrade
FEB. 5, 2007--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls next Community Classroom presentation, "The "Dogged" Debate Over What Happened to Pluto," will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 27 in the River Falls Public Library.
In 2006, astronomers made the decision that Pluto was no longer officially defined as being a planet, begging the question, "What counts as a planet in our solar system?" Presenter Eileen Korenic is a member of the UW-River Falls physics department who has 15 years of experience teaching topics ranging from college astronomy and optics to public programming of planetarium shows for all ages.
