UWRF CAFES Alumni Association Re-Elects Officers
OCT. 30, 2006--Mike Wachtendonk of Bloomer, Wis., was re-elected president of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences Alumni Association.
A 1996 graduate of UWRF, Wachtendonk majored in animal science. He currently is the nutrition manager for Sugar Bol Farms, a custom-heifer raising operation in Chetek.
Also re-elected to another term as vice president was Kari Stanek of Reedsburg, Wis. Stanek, communications and public relations coordinator for Accelerated Genetics, graduated from UWRF in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science with a dairy, business and communications emphasis.
Ryan Timm of Rose Creek, Minn., was re-elected to another term as secretary. Timm, a food technologist in research and development at Hormel Foods, earned his bachelor's degree in animal science from UWRF in 1999.
Other CAFES alumni serving as directors include: Jackie (Gliniecki) Matthiae, Marathon, Wis.; Tyler Grenzow, River Falls, Wis.; Dayton Hougaard, Mauston, Wis.; Ryan Thorson, Shawano, Wis.; Jeff Lerum, Kimball, Minn.; and Lorry Erickson, Warrens, Wis.
Organized in 1983, the alumni association was formed to advance the development of UWRF CAFES and to promote communication and networking among CAFES alumni.
Among the activities sponsored by the association includes alumni receptions at Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, World Dairy Expo and other agriculture-related events. The association also hosts a senior breakfast for CAFES students and sponsors various awards.
