SCVST's 40th Season Players Hail from Valley and Beyond

JUNE 23, 2006--The 40th anniversary season of the St. Croix Valley Summer Theatre opens Thursday, June 29 with A. R. Gurney's noted "Love Letters" followed by a slate of three popular musicals, "Forever Plaid," Sisters of Swing," and "Disney's Beauty and the Beast."

Rehearsals began Monday, June 12 on the campus of the University of Wisconsin - River Falls.

Among the 2006 company members: Woodville resident Gregory Lund (second row, tenth from left) an actor and assistant stage manager; Baldwin elementary teacher Sandee Blakeley, (second row, seventh from left), who is appearing in "Love Letters;" and Baldwin resident and properties master Laura Kunesh (first row, sixth from left).; Ellsworth resident Rachael Radkey, rehearsal and show pianist, (first row, seventh from left); Denise Baker (second row, second from left), who is costumer for "Forever Plaid" and is in the chorus for "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" and "Sisters of Swing;" New Richmond residents Keith A. "Love Letters" runs June 29-July 1 at 7:30 p.m., with an additional 1:30 p.m. matinee Friday, June 30.

Loaded with nostalgic 1950s songs, "Forever Plaid" opens July 6 for seven performances.

The lives of The Andrews Sisters is chronicled in "Sisters of Swing," a trip down the 1940s musical memory lane with such hits as "Rum and Coca Cola," and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy."

"Sisters of Swing" opens July 21.

The well-loved megamusical, "Disney's Beauty and the Beast," rounds out the SCVST season opening Aug. 4.

All evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in Davis Theatre of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building, 420 Cascade Ave., River Falls.
