Business Plan Contest Set
By Katie Bild
UW-RF University Communications
MAY 5, 2006--Budding entrepreneurs enrolled in University of Wisconsin
System schools are encouraged to submit original business plans by June
1, 2006 for a chance to earn up to $750 in prize money.
The competition is sponsored by Xcel Energy and the University of Wisconsin
– River Falls.
Individuals or teams must be currently enrolled undergraduates at any
two or four-year school within the UW System and an active participant
in an original business plan. Teams are encouraged to seek input from
faculty, staff and the business community. There is no limit for entries
per school or the number of members on a team, however, it is recommended
that most teams should have three to five members with varying skills
and interests. Teams may also have received limited funding before but
it must be disclosed on the entry form.
Plans that include leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, restructurings,
mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, search funds and strategic alliances
are not eligible.
Prizes will be awarded on June 15. First place is $750, second is $500
and third is $250.
The business plan format should include an executive summary, business
overview, market opportunity, market solution, market analysis, management
team, potential risks, financial analysis, social/environmental quantitative
impact analysis, proposed exit or harvest strategy and a funding request.
For questions and the complete business plan format, contact UW-RF Professor
Jude Rathburn at email@example.com or 715-425-3335.
