Student Join English Honor Society
APRIL 14, 2006--Students from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls
were recently inducted week into Sigma Tau Delta, an English honors society.
Sigma Tau Delta is an international honor society for English majors,
minors and qualifying non-majors. The UW-RF chapter of Sigma Tau Delta
is Kappa Sigma. Kappa Sigma is an academic and service organization, which
recognizes high achievement of students in English language and literature,
promotes interest in literature and the English language across the campus
and River Falls community, and fosters the discipline in all aspects,
including creative and critical writing.
Sigma Tau Delta-Kappa Sigma has brought poets and writers to campus for
the Student Reading Series, such as Thomas R. Smith, Robert Schuler, Amy
Knox Brown and John McNally. Many members work on the annual student publication,
the Prologue. The society has also raised money for a local charity and
for a subscription to Studies in the Novel, a literary journal previously
not carried by the UW-RF Chalmer Davee Library.
