Women's History Month Events Planned

FEB. 24, 2006--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Women's Studies Program presents several events in conjunction with Women's History Month in March. The series will focus on courageous women who lead during times of crisis.  

The celebration will begin Tuesday, March 7 at 4 p.m. in the Blanche Davis Theatre in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building.   Cathy Sultan, executive board member of the National Peace Foundation and author of the books, "A Beirut Heart: One Woman's War" and "Israeli and Palestinian Voices," will be the keynote speaker.   A book signing and reception will immediately follow the presentation.

On Wednesday, March 22 at 12:15 p.m. in the Chalmer Davee Library Breezeway Cathy Sultan will lead a book discussion on her book, "Beirut Heart: One Woman's War."   This book is available in the bookstore of the Hagestad Student Center. Refreshments will be served.

"Women Organize!!" a film by Joan E. Biren, Union Institute Center for Women, will be presented on Tuesday, March 28 at 4 p.m. in room 271 of Centennial Science Hall.  

On Friday, March 31 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chalmer Davee Library Breezeway, the Goldin-Brown group will perform "Women, Peace & Justice in Poetry and Song."   A book signing and a reception will immediately follow the performance.
