Financial Planning Certificate Offered

FEB. 24, 2006--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls College of Business and Economics is offering the first course in the Financial Planning Certificate Program beginning March 20.

The FPC program provides participants with the skills, tools and knowledge to begin a career in the financial counseling and planning profession. The program consists of five courses that cover a range of financial planning topics. Participants who successfully complete all five courses meet the educational requirement of the CFP Board's educational requirement for CFP â certification and are eligible to take the CFP â Certification Examination.

Classes are taught by UW-RF faculty and qualified professionals in the financial services industry and are held in evenings and on weekends in Hudson and River Falls to accommodate working adults.

UW-RF does not certify individuals to use the CFE® Certified Financial Planner(TM) and CFP (with flame logo) marks, CFP certification is granted solely by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to individuals who, in addition to completing and educational requirement such as this CFP Board-Registered Program, h have met ethics, experience and examination requirements.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CFE® Certified Financial Planner(TM) and CFP (with flame logo) in the United States, which it awards to individuals who successfully complete initial and ongoing certification requirements.
