UW-RF Financial Planning Program Graduates its First Cohort
By Staci Bruder
FEB. 3, 2006--Four students are the first graduates of the Financial Planning Certificate program at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Raymond Buske of New Richmond, Wis., Michael Fuchs of Hastings, Minn., Brad North of Woodbury, Minn., and Stewart Zick of River Falls make up the initial group to complete the Certified Financial Planner® Board-Registered Program offered by the UW-RF College of Business and Economics and the outreach office.
The FPC program provides participants with the skills, tools and knowledge to begin a career in the financial counseling and planning profession. The program consists of five courses that cover a range of financial planning topics. Those who successfully complete all five courses meet the educational requirement of the CFP® Board for CFP® certification and are qualified to take the CFP® certification examination.
"I enjoyed working with the professionals who taught the classes," said Buske. "Just getting out there to meet the people who have been in the workplace, as well as learning more about how the business works was a reward."
Classes are taught by UW-RF faculty and qualified professionals in the financial services industry. All classes are held in evenings and on weekends to accommodate working adults and are located in Hudson and River Falls.
The next FPC program begins in March 2006.
