COLLEGIATE RODEO SEASON ENDS

OCT. 28, 2005--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls participated in the final rodeo event of the intercollegiate rodeo season Oct. 14-15 at North Dakota State University in Fargo.
In team competition, the UW-River Falls women's team placed fourth.
In individual events, Lisa Merrill, Pine River, Minn., placed seventh in the breakaway roping competition. Derek Miller, Elmwood, Wis., placed fifth in the bull-riding event.
On Oct. 1-2, the UW-RF rodeo team traveled to Ames, Iowa to compete in the Iowa State University rodeo.
In the bull-riding competition, Kyle Olson, Shawano, Wis., placed third and Derek Miller placed seventh.
In the final Great Plains Regional standings, UW-River Falls placed well among tough competition.
The men's team placed 10th in team competition while the women were ranked fifth in the final standings.
Kyle Olson and Derek Miller placed seventh and 10th, respectively, in the bull-riding event.
For the women, Allison Kellogg, Excelsior, Minn. , placed 12th and Lisa Merrill placed 15th in breakaway-roping event.
The UW-River Falls rodeo team competes in about 10 rodeos across the country per year. The UW-RF rodeo is part of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and one of 14 collegiate rodeos competing in the Great Plains region. The NIRA is has more than 3,500 student members and 137 member schools and universities competing in more than 100 rodeos each year.
