SCIENCE DAY BRINGS HIGH SCHOOLERS TO UW-RF
OCT. 21, 2005--
Some 650 students from 16 area high schools visited the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for Science Day in mid-October.
A number of College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Science faculty were involved in Science Day activities.
Bob Baker, professor of plant and earth science, Bill Cordua, professor of plant and earth science, and Ian Williams, professor of plant and earth science, led several activities for the students. Students went on a field trip that focused on fossil collecting and offered a session on rock and mineral identification. The most popular session was on the geology of disasters.
Bonnie Walters, professor of animal and food science, and Purnendu Vasavada, professor of animal and food science, also hosted a session on food allergens.
