Community Classroom Explores Kid's TV

SEPT. 23, 2005--Learn about hidden race and gender messages of children's television programming and commercials as part of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Community Classroom Series on Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the lower level of the River Falls Public Library.    

Jennifer Willis-Rivera, an assistant professor in the UW-RF speech communication theater arts department, will lead a discussion to increase awareness of the messages regarding race and gender that are often embedded in children's television and commercials.  

Community Classroom events are sponsored by the UW-RF College of Arts and Sciences and the outreach office. All events are free, open to the public and are held from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at the River Falls Public Library on Division and Union streets in River Falls. No reservations are required to attend.

Upcoming topics include "Does God Play Dice? 100 Years after Einstein" on Monday, Oct. 17 and "The Koran and The New Testament" on Monday, Nov. 14.
