Book Club Starts Sept. 21
The recent feature is "The Blind Assassin" by Margaret Atwood. Sandy Soares, a retired professor from the department of modern Languages, will lead the group discussion.
Book club events are free and open to the public and held on each second Wednesday of the month. Upcoming books and dates include: Oct. 12, "Saturday" by Ian McEwan, led by retired English professor Jim Delaplain; Nov. 9, "Charles Dickens: A Penguin Life" by Jane Smiley, led by retired Math professor Ed Rang; Dec. 14, "God's Politics: Why the Right Gets it Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It" by Jim Wallis, led by UW-RF admissions director Alan Tuchtenhagen; Feb. 8, "Bel Canto" by Ann Patchett, led by retired English professor Margaret Odegard; March 8, "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd, led by Jerry Liddell and Gail Armbrust, of the department of outreach and graduate studies; April 12, "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini, led by community member Marilyn Schuchman; May 10, "Love and War in the Apennines" by Eric Newby, led by Brad Gee, recruitment committee chair of Davee Library.
