Broadway Songs Highlight SCVST's Musical Revue

JULY 1, 2005--Hit songs from "Chicago," "Cabaret," "Kiss of the Spider Woman," and "New York, New York" highlight the dazzling musical revue "And the World Goes ’Round: The Songs of Kander and Ebb" opening Thursday, July 14 at the St. Croix Valley Summer Theatre at UW-River Falls.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. July 14-16 and July 20-23. A 1:30 p.m. matinee is Sunday, July 17. All performances are held in the Blanche Davis Theatre, Kleinpell Fine Arts Building, 420 Cascade Ave., River Falls.

Starring in the show are Rochelle Oldham, Brad Jennings, Rusty Rusterholz, Sophie Grimm and C. Max Athorn. Oldham portrayed Eliza Doolittle in the 2004 SCVST production of "My Fair Lady." Athorn played Freddy Eynsford-Hill in the same production. Rusterholz is a 2005 River Falls High School graduate. Grimm attends Ellsworth High School, and Jennings is an actor/singer who has been featured in numerous UW-RF theater productions.

"And the World Goes ’Round" features the hits of the Tony Award-winning songwriters John Kander and Fred Ebb, who are the composers and lyricists for such tunes as "All That Jazz," "Cabaret," "Mr. Cellophane," "Theme from New York, New York," "Money, Money," "Maybe This Time" and scores of others. The original production was created by Susan Stroman, the legendary Broadway director/choreographer who later directed "The Producers."

Director of the SCVST production is Phil Bratnober, who guided last year’s hit "My Fair Lady."

The box office in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building is open for ticket sales 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday-Friday, and one hour before all performances.
