Senior Outreach Studies offers Computer Classes
MARCH 4, 2005--The UW-River Falls office of outreach and graduate studies
is offering a new series of introductory computer courses starting Monday,
April 4, for members of Senior Outreach Studies and their spouses.
Classes will teach the basics of computers to beginners and are held April
4, 11, 18 and 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Yellow Computer Lab in
the basement of Chalmer Davee Library at UW-RF. Free parking is usually
available along Cascade Avenue.
Because the courses are free and space is limited, registration for each
class is required. To register or to become a member of SOS, call Diane
Ballard at 715/425-3261.
Courses are:
April 4 - "Buying a Computer." This course is a basic introduction
to computer equipment and terminology. Whether you are buying a new or
used computer, know what you want the computer to do for you and how much
you are willing to spend.
April 11 - "Ask a Computer Geek." Do you have questions about
your home computer? Want to know more about your email? Want to copy something
off the Internet, but don't know how? Bring your questions to this class.
April 18 - "Basic Computer Skills for First Time Users." Never
touched a computer? Learn how to turn the computer on and use a mouse.
Explore the Internet and be introduced to various software such as Microsoft
Word and Powerpoint.
April 25 - "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about eBAY."
What's all the hoopla about eBay? Tour the eBay Web site while the instructor
shows you the ins and outs of shopping and selling on eBay.
