Brazilian Music Concert Set
MARCH 4, 2005--Brasamba, a Twin Cities-based band performing the exciting
sounds of Brazil, will present a concert and workshop on March 15 at UW-River
Falls.
The workshop runs from 12:50 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and the concert is at 8
p.m., both in the Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building.
The concert and workshop are free and open to the public.
Comprised of both native Brazilians and other Brazilian music experts,
the group plays the familiar samba and bossa nova as well as the heavily
African-influenced axé and rousing ferró music of northeastern
Brazil. This toe-tapping, movement-based music inspires audience membes
to get on their feet.
The concert cosponsored by the UW-RF Performing Art and the Ethnic Studies
committees.
