Community Reception Held for New Chancellor

FEB. 25, 3005--A community and campus reception will be held on March 14, for Dr. Don Betz, who was recently named the 12th chancellor, not including interim chancellors over the years, for UW-River Falls.

A reception will be from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. in the Falcons Nest of the Hagestad Student Center. Refreshments will be available.

During brief remarks at the start of the ceremony, Betz will be introduced by Terry Brown, chair of the chancellor’s search and screen committee. UW System President Kevin Reilly and Interim Chancellor Virgil Nylander also will speak.

Betz will be joined in the morning’s activities by his wife Susanne. Betz is the provost and vice president for academic affairs at Central Oklahoma University, Edmond, Okla. He was named chancellor in February by the UW System Board of Regents after a nationwide search following the death last year of Chancellor Ann Lydecker.

Dr. Betz will assume his new role at UW-RF on July 1.
