UW-RF Offers Human Resources Management Course

JAN. 7, 2005--The College of Business and Economics at UW-River Falls is offering a noncredit course in human resources management from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 24 – April 18.

The course uses the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM®) Learning System. Appropriate for human resource professionals at all levels as well as general managers, the course covers key concepts in human resources management and provides a forum to discuss current issues affecting the human resources field.

Participants will be able to network with other professionals and share real-world experiences to help them deal with the growing complexities of their field. A variety of topics, ranging from strategic management to occupational health, safety and security, will be covered.

"Human resources management is an ever-growing, complex and competitive facet of the business world," says Sally Field, human resources practitioner and course instructor. "No one can afford to forego opportunities to maximize their knowledge and potential in the field."

Upon completion, participants who are certified SHRM® practitioners will receive 36 of the 50 credits required for re-certification. Students who are not yet certified will gain a solid foundation in human resources principles needed to successfully complete the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification exam.

Tuition is $995, which includes the SHRM® Learning System study guide and CD Rom. For more information or to request a registration form, contact the UW-RF Office of Outreach and Graduate Studies at or call 715/425-3256 or 800/228-5607. To register and/or pay online, visit
