Center for Economic Research Seminar Date Change

NOV. 12, 2004--The UW-River Falls Center for Economic Research is holding a free seminar examining the effect of the freshman seminar course on Nov. 19 (originally scheduled for Nov. 12) at 3:15 p.m. in Room 321 of South Hall. The course introduces students to the majors and minors in the College of Business and Economics and explores careers in business and related fields.

Brian Schultz and Glenn Potts, both economics professors, will present, "The Academic Effect of the Freshman Seminar after Eight Semesters." The research presentation looks at approximately 350 students enrolled at the University in the fall of 2000 and the possible effect of participation in the seminar course on the student's final grade point average at the time of graduation.

The seminar is free and open to the public. The presentation will be preceded by refreshments at 3 p.m. in Room 317 of South Hall.

For more information on the center or the seminar series, contact Tabesh at 715/425-3335 or e-mail
