Legislative Update (M. Kinders)
The legislature is currently involved with 3 types of back-up appointments:
Tenured Faculty who move to administration and are allowed back by state statute to tenured appointment
. Academic Staff from inside the university who are promoted into a position that requires a limited appointment. They are guaranteed the back-up by state statute
. Senior Administrators from outside the university who are granted tenure by vote of the Faculty as a result of contract negotiations.
UW-River Falls has 14 employees in limited appointments with back-ups, of whom two are Academic Staff. Regents want back-up appointments for Academic Staff resolved by November.
