Unit 9 - Forest Management and Economics

Objectives:

At the end of this unit, students will be able to:

1. Summarize the general changes in the management of U.S. forest lands from colonial times to
the present.
2. Explain the basic principles associated with multiple-use management and
sustainable/sustainable-yield management.
3. Summarize the economic importance of forest resources in the World, the U.S., and Wisconsin.
4. State and generally discuss several economic factors affecting the production of forest products.
5. List the basic information include in a forest management/stewardship plan.
