Mike Merritt (Fr., Menomonie) was the team’s top finisher at the Eau Claire Lake Wissota meet held Friday. He was the first Falcon across the finish line. He ran the 8,000-meter course in 27:40 and he placed eighth overall. “Mike ran his best time of the year by 12 seconds and earned a spot on our team that will run in the WIAC Meet next weekend,” said Falcon Coach Keven Syverson. |

Chad Ernst (Jr., Richfield, Minn.) set a school record at the Brooks Invitational held Saturday at UW-Oshkosh. He was the first Falcon across the finish line and he finished the 8,000-meter race in 24:56. He placed 21st overall. Ernst, 5-6, broke his own school record of 25:10.7 he set last season. |

Scott Bowman (So., McFarland, Wis.) was the team’s top finisher at the Blugold Open on Friday at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax. Bowman, 5-9, covered the 8,00-meter course in 27:07 and he placed 73rd overall. “Scott led our team at Eau Claire and had a very consistent race. He has been a great addition to our team and has a great work ethic,” said Falcon Coach Keven Syverson. |

Jason Phillippi (Sr., Maplewood, Minn. Tartan HS) had a strong race for the Falcons at the Griak Invitational held Saturday at the University of Minnesota. He finished the 8,000-meter race in 26:09 and placed 14th overall. He was the second Falcon across the finish line. “Jason moved very well throughout the race and finished strong,” said Falcon Coach Keven Syverson. “He finished a second behind our No. 1 runner, Chad Ernst, which gave us a nice 1-2 punch and that helped us placed seventh in the final team standings.” |

Chad Ernst (Jr., Richfield, Minn.) led the Falcons to the team title at the All-American Invitational held Saturday in Decorah, Iowa. Ernst, 5-6, ran the four-mile course in 20:51 to capture first place. UWRF won the team title with 33 points to finish ahead of four other teams. |

Tony Casci (Jr., Shoreview, Minn. Mounds View HS) and Taylor Zinell (Fr., St. James, Minn.) both ran well at the Eau Claire Hokum Karem race on Saturday. Casci’s team finished second in 43:12.5 and Zinell’s team finished fifth in 43:20.5. “Tony ran exceptionally smart and capitalized on a very strong final leg to be the first team across the line for the Falcons. Zinell set a fast pace early and did not let up the entire race in posting the fastest time (21:10) in the race,” said Falcon Coach Scott Sekelsky. |
